Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship and influence between stress coping and family support on the psychological well-being of parents who have children with special needs, as well as differences in stress coping, family support and psychological well-being of ABK parents who have children with autism, mentally retarded, cerebral palsy and down syndrome. This study uses a quantitative method with correlation, regression and comparative research designs. Subjects in this study were parents of children with special needs who attended the Tambun Selatan Special School and North Tambun Bekasi totaling 88 parents of children with special needs. This study uses a stress coping scale with the Cronbach Alpha reliability value of 0.941. Family support scale with Cronbach Alpha reliability value 0.946 and psychological well-being with Cronbach Alpha reliability value 0.949. Data analysis techniques used Rank-Spearman correlation and One Way Anova comparison. This study found that there was a relationship between stress coping and psychological well-being and there was a relationship between family support and psychological well-being. Based on the One Way Anova test it is also known that there are no differences in stress coping, family support and psychological well-being of parents of children with special needs who have children with autism
