Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

PUBLISHED ARTICLES

Article should be a summary of research, either research reports or literature reviews in the studies of Communication, Language, and Culture.
Article should be an original work of the author and has never been published before.
Article is written in Bahasa Indonesia or Standard English.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Following are structures of article which is eligible to be published in Makna. 

STRUCTURE OF ARTICLE

TITLE

Title is written in a concise manner and reflects the content of respective research article. If the title is too long, it should be broken into a main title and a sub-title.

AUTHOR’S NAME

Author’s name is written without any educational degree. Author’s affiliation, either current educational institution or previous one, can be positioned underneath the author’s name.

ABSTRACT

Abstract should be around 100-200 words. It should be typed in italic and use both English and Bahasa Indonesia.If the article is a summary of research, abstract should contain research objectives, applied method, results, and conclusion. Keywords should be around 3-5 words and put underneath the abstract.

KEYWORDS

This part consists of three to five important words that specify the article yet reasonably common with the subject discipline; use lower case except for names.

INTRODUCTION

Introduction should introduce the background of the article as well as its importance for its respective field of study. The current state of the research field should be reviewed carefully, and key publications cited. Please highlight controversial and diverging hypotheses when necessary. Finally, briefly mention the main aim of the work and highlight the principal conclusions. As far as possible, please keep the introduction comprehensible to scientists outside your particular field of research. References should be cited as (Morissan, 2018) or (Morissan et al., 2019) or (Adara, 2018; Dornyei & Cheng, 2019; Deci, 2019; Ryan, 2002) or (Liu & Liu, 2019, p. 5) or Abidin (1989). See the end of the document for further details on references. Technical terms should be defined. Symbols, abbreviations, and acronyms should be defined the first time they are used. All tables and figures should be cited in numerical order. The research method should be included in the Introduction. The method contains an explanation of the research approach, subjects of the study, the conduct of the research procedure, the use of materials and instruments, data collection, and analysis techniques.

RESULTS

This section describes the findings of study and discusses them scientifically based on supporting theories. Authors should discuss the results and how they can be interpreted from the perspective of previous studies and of the working hypotheses. The findings and their implications should be discussed in the broadest context possible. Future research directions may also be highlighted. This section should answer the research questions. 

CONCLUSION

This section provides the summary of present study. In addition, the section should provide limitation of the present study and ideas of possible further studies.

MANUSCRIPT FORMAT

  • The length of manuscript should be around 15-25 pages of A4 in Microsoft Word with 1, 5 space using Times New Roman with font size of 12. The manuscript should be justified-aligned with above, below, right margins of 3 cm and left margin of 4 cm.
  • Tables, graphics, and charts should be numbered and given titles following APA system.
  • Table is typed in single spaces with the table’ number follows the order it appears in the research article. Each column is suited with a brief sub-title. Maximum number of tables is 5.
  • Citation format should follow the convention used in American Psychological Association (APA) Citation Style and it is recommended to use reference manager such as Mendeley.
  • Each draft will be checked with Turnitin by the editors to check its originality.
  • Each source used or quoted in the research article should be referenced in reference section. If a source written in reference section is not used in research article, it will be eliminated by the editor.
  • Manuscript is submitted one month before the publishing stage to http://jurnal.unismabekasi.ac.id/ via submission link

Other Information

  • The decision to publish the article will be informed via email.
  • Author will receive one printed edition of his/her published articles.
  • Declined articles will be returned to the respective author.
