Publication Ethics

MAKNA: Jurnal Kajian Komunikasi, Bahasa, dan Budaya is a scientific journal managed by FKSB (Faculty of Communication and Literature) of Universitas Islam “45” Bekasi. It has been published since 2012. MAKNA is published online and exclusively promote scientific articles which provide discussions toward cultural studies, linguistics and communication. 
Below is a statement of publication ethics of all parties related to the publication process of Makna. Those parties are managers, editors, reviewers, as well as contributors. Publication ethics of Makna promote the main the ethical values ​​of scientific publications as stated in the Regulation of the Head of LIPI Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications, namely (i) Neutrality or freedom from conflicts of interest in the management of publications; (ii) Fairness or granting authorship rights to those entitled as authors and (iii) Honesty or freedom from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism in publications.

The following are the responsibilities of each role holder in the MAKNA journal.


1. Meeting the quality needs of readers and writers.

2. Implement a clear process for publishing works to authors.

3. Prioritize objectivity to maintain the quality of the published writings.

4. Maintain journal integrity.

5. Be responsible for the style and format of writing scientific articles.


1. Assist the editor in making editorial decisions through editorial communication that will be continued to the author regarding reviews of scientific articles submitted by the author.

2. Treat each draft fairly and do not discuss it with anyone except with the editor's permission.

3. Review objectively and in accordance with scientific principles.


1. Submit manuscripts based on original research reports that are accurate and free from plagiarism.

2. Write down the references used in accordance with the rules of scientific writing.

3. Ensure research activities are in accordance with the code of ethics.

4. Collaborate with editors to edit scientific articles if necessary.
